The Tide
Mentoring Programme

A Cross-Disciplinary Approach to Addressing the
Intersection of Environment, Gender, and Security
APPLY BY 23 December

Program Overview

The Tide’s Mentoring Programme aims to foster a collaborative and impactful exchange of knowledge and experiences between professionals working in the distinct yet interconnected fields of environment, gender, and security.

Through mentorship, we will create a space where participants can share expertise, explore the intersectionality of these fields, and find innovative solutions to the complex global challenges we face today

The programme will be launched in February 2025, bringing together 15 professionals – 5 from each of the three focus areas – who will engage in a mutually beneficial mentoring process. Each participant will both mentor and be mentored by two persons from the other fields, allowing for a comprehensive exchange of knowledge, perspectives, and practices.

Objectives

Foster Collaboration

Facilitate cross-disciplinary knowledge sharing to explore the intersection between environment, gender, and security.

Capacity Building

Equip participants with tools and frameworks to tackle issues at the intersection of these fields, enhancing their professional development.

Policy Influence

Empower participants to apply their learnings in their professional contexts, advocating for integrated approaches to policy and practice.

Promote Inclusive Approaches

Increase the understanding of how gender, environment, and security intersect and inform each other, driving more inclusive and sustainable practices.

Programme Structure

15 participants will be put into mentorship triads, with each group including one professional from each of the three focus areas (environment, gender, and security).

Each participant will provide mentorship from their area of expertise while also learning from their mentors’ field. This reciprocal relationship will help bridge gaps in understanding the intersections of these fields.

The mentoring process will involve in-person triad sessions, as well as group workshops and webinars to deepen understanding of intersectional approaches.

These sessions will be structured around shared goals and challenges, encouraging problem-solving and collaborative learning.

Kick-off Session: A collaborative session to outline goals, establish expectations, and create an action plan for each mentoring trio.

Midway Check-in: A structured session to assess progress, troubleshoot challenges, and exchange insights.

Final Reflection and Showcase: A closing event where participants present their learnings, strategies, and recommendations for integrating their insights into their professional practices.
